THE MIGHTY BEARS The picturesque North Sydney Oval and the Mighty Bears who for 92 seasons proudly represented the community north of Sydney Harbour … ah the memories! Some great names wore those colours – from the captain of the first Kangaroos of 1908-09, Denis ‘Dinny’ Lutge and his contemporaries Jim Devereux (scorer of Australia’s first Test try against England) and Sid Deane, through to the magical wingers Harold Horder and Ken Irvine, Kiwi skipper Mark Graham and on to the modern day stalwarts David Fairleigh and Greg Florimo.
